The planned Split experience

One group card.
Everyone’s own share.

Split is being built for purchases you make together: a place for the weekend, dinner, an event or something for your home. Agree on who pays what before the group pays.

Split is not available yet. This page describes the intended experience; the examples are illustrations, not live transactions.

1. Bring the group together

Create a group for the people sharing a purchase. The idea is one group card, with each person linking their own payment card. One person shouldn’t have to cover the full amount and collect repayments afterward.

2. Choose the split that fits

Equal isn’t the only option. Your group can agree on different amounts, then each person approves their share and sets their own limit. A four-person example does not mean Split is limited to four people.

Alex$320

Want to check a different arrangement? Open the bill-splitting calculator. It works now, without an account, and does not charge anyone.

3. Everyone approves before payment

The intended rule is simple: each person agrees to their own amount before the purchase goes through. If a share isn’t approved or covered, the group purchase should not go through. The person tapping the card should not unexpectedly become responsible for the full bill.

4. One card, in everyone’s wallet

The planned wallet experience lets members add the group card to their phone wallets. Anyone in the group could then pay, while each linked card covers its owner’s approved share.

Supported wallets, linked cards, countries, fees and launch timing have not been announced. We’ll share those details before the product becomes available.

How this differs from tracking expenses

An expense tracker records what someone has already paid and what others owe. Split’s goal is to divide the payment itself, so one person does not have to front everyone’s share. The calculator on this website only works out amounts; it does not connect to cards or move money.
